Our adopted dog developed pneumonia and ASPCA denied a follow-up claim

Pet owner experience

We adopted a dog in October and bought an ASPCA policy effective November 10, with a 14-day waiting period. He had kennel cough when we got him, then developed symptoms on November 18 and was diagnosed on the 19th. Antibiotics did not fix things. After an emergency visit of about $700 he was diagnosed with pneumonia and needed more treatment. A follow-up claim was denied, while earlier claims were still in the queue. I am exhausted and trying to figure out what the waiting-period rule means for the later pneumonia care.
